District Welcomes Another Local Business Expansion to Lowell School

May contain: analog clock and clock

The District is excited to welcome Dango Burrito to the Historic Lowell School Building on a full-time basis starting in February. Dango Burrito is locally owned and operated by Coleman and Kayla Bowers and has been serving the Grand Valley for the past 3 years in various locations.

Starting on February 1st, Dango Burrito will be the "standing food truck" at the Lowell School. They will be open Wednesdays through Sundays and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you want an advance preview of their amazing menu, check them out at the Lowell School on Sundays in January.

The Lowell School will continue to host the many "rotating food trucks" that have visited regularly over the past year. Several of these local food truck favorites have already committed to join Dango Burrito at the Lowell School on a rotating basis. If you are interested in booking food truck dates on a rotating basis, reach out to the District to reserve your dates.

Dango, the District's developer (REgeneration), and the District (in fulfillment of its open space/recreation services authorization) will be phasing in over the next 1-2 years several improvements to the Commons and other areas around the Lowell School. These improvements could include more seating, shade structures, art, ambient lighting at night, etc. The shared vision is to create a small "outdoor food park" in the District that can accomodate multiple food trucks simultaneously and host outdoor events and community celebrations.

Going forward, Dango, REgeneration, and the District (providing in-kind support only) will also be collaborating with community groups and local businesses to host even more art, music, and food related events out on the Lowell Village Commons. The Commons is the front lawn of the Lowell School and Downtown Grand Junction's newest public park that's open for the entire community to enjoy. If you are interested in hosting events on the Commons, reach out to the District to discuss details and reserve your dates.

Please stop by the Lowell School in the coming months to welcome Dango Burrito, enjoy some great food, and support local entrepreneurs bringing new food options, enhanced open space improvements, and even more community events to the District.
