Creative, community-oriented temporary uses for Lowell School?

May contain: indoors, plant, desk, furniture, table, architecture, building, living room, room, beauty salon, chair, lamp, and floor
Classroom 7 inside the Lowell School (as furnished by a previous tenant).

The District's developer (REgeneration Development) is requesting creative and/or community-oriented ideas for temporary uses of Classroom 7 inside the Lowell School.

The District and REgeneration Development have a mutual interest in promoting visitation to the District. So ideas for temporary uses will be prioritized if they contribute to increased visibility and public awareness of the following:

    • The ongoing reactivation and restoration of The Historic Lowell School Building. The Lowell School is one of the few commercial buildings in Grand Junction listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
    • The Lowell Village Commons as downtown's newest public park availible for the free use by the community. The Commons is the grassy lawn in front of the Lowell School that has been legally-designated as public open space (and the Western Slope's only "POPOS", or privately-owned public open space).

Temporary uses may last anywhere from a few hours to several months. A few preliminary ideas for creative and/or community-oriented temporary uses for Classroom 7 include:

    • Art exhibits
    • Performances (non-amplified)
    • Non-profit board meetings or fundraisers
    • Pop-up marketing, retail, or catered events for local entrepeneurs
    • Vendor fairs for artisans/makers
    • Volunteer appreciation parties or neighborhood celebrations
    • Community classes, seminars, or lectures
    • YOUR IDEA HERE:  ????

Depending on the proposed temporary use and its duration, REgeneration Development can make Classroom 7 available for a very low cost to for-profit organizations, or for free to non-profit organizations. Any organization/individual hosting a temporary use will be required to provide proof of insurance and/or a liability wiaver to protect the District, REgeneration Development, and existing Lowell School tenants.

Feel free to forward this announcement to anyone who may be interested.
