What: 2023 Food Truck Throwdown (a friendly competition and food bank fundraiser)
Where: The Lowell Village Commons (front lawn of The Historic Lowell School), 310 N. 7th St., Downtown Grand Junction, CO 81501
When: Saturday 9/30, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
Details: The annual Food Truck Throwdown is a friendly competition each year to select the "People's Choice" for the best food truck in the Grand Valley. Advance admission price is $15 per person via EventBrite or $20 per person at the event via card or cash.
For each paid admission, $2 will be donated to the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies to fight food insecurity in the community thanks to generous support from Alpine Bank and REgeneration Development. Please bring a large group of family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to this year's Throwdown to help us meet our goal of raising $2,000 for the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies.
At this time, the following 6 food trucks are confirmed:
- 505 Fix
- B & C BBQ
- Lucky Thai
- Nomad Bowlz
- Smokey Bonez BBQ (winner of the 2022 Throwdown Trophy!)
- Underdog Cheese
Here's how the Throwdown works:
- Advance admission price is $15 per person and can be purchased via Event Brite. Admission price the day of the event is $20 per person and can be purchased via card or cash.
- Each paid attendee will get 6 food truck tickets and 1 token.
- Visit each of the 6 food trucks, give them 1 of your tickets, and each food truck will give you a sampler plate featuring their most delicious menu items.
- After visiting all 6 food trucks and enjoying their sampler plates, use your token to vote for your favorite.
- At the end of the event, all tokens (votes) will be counted. The food truck with the most votes will be named the "2023 People's Choice for Best Food Truck in the Grand Valley." In addition to bragging rights until next year's Throwdown, the winning food truck will receive the coveted 2023 Championship Belt which they will surely cherish forever.
- Beverages will be available for purchase at the event, including award-winning craft beer from the Gemini Beer Company taproom located inside the Lowell School, as well as a variety of non-alcoholic beverages from Gemini and select food trucks.
- A limited number of t-shirts commemorating the 2023 Throwdown will also be available for purchase. Soon to be a collector's item among local fashionistas.
- Some seating will be available at the event, including several picnic tables and folding chairs. But if you plan to attend during peak lunch and dinner hours, you may want to bring your own seating (lawn/camp chairs or a blanket), or feel free to just sit picnic style on the cool, green grass of the Commons.
- Kids and dogs are always welcome to play on the Commons, with responsible adult supervision at all times.
May the best food truck win, and let's all come together to raise $2,000 for the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies!
