Details: Pioneering Colorado architect Eugene Groves designed the Lowell School (old R-5 High) in downtown Grand Junction. Groves was born 140 years ago on February 9th, 1883. Please join us this Thursday 2/9 to celebrate Eugene Groves Day, the ongoing revitalization of the Lowell School, and historic preservation efforts everywhere.

To help you celebrate Eugene Groves Day properly: The first 50 people who can name the only other building on the Western Slope designed by Eugene Groves will receive “buy one, get one free” on any draft beer or non-alcoholic kombucha. Hint: you can actually see this other Groves-designed building from the front door of Gemini’s temporary taproom.

More about the Lowell School Revitalization Project: The Lowell School was completed in 1926 and is one of the few commercial buildings in Grand Junction listed on the National Register of Historic Places. REgeneration Development is currently restoring and reactivating the Lowell School in collaboration with a community of creative and entrepreneurial tenants, including future tenant Gemini Beer Company. The Lowell School project is a public-private partnership between REgeneration, the Grand Junction Downtown Development Authority, and the Lowell Village Metro District (in-kind support). The ongoing historic preservation of the Lowell School is financially supported by lending from the Colorado Historical Foundation, grants from History Colorado’s State Historical Fund, and historic preservation income tax credits to be issued by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and sold by Tax Credit Connection.
